The Shrine Band Association is authorized and recognized by the Shrine Imperial Council of Tampa Florida as a National Association. The Shrine Band Association of North America, commonly referred to as S.B.A.N.A, is structured and incorporated under the laws of the State of Missouri.

A Board of Directors, elected by the membership, at the Annual Imperial Sessions, governs S.B.A.N.A.

Membership in S.B.A.N.A. is open to all regular Shrine band Nobles in good standing at his Shrine Center. Nominal yearly dues are assessed.

The purpose and main function of S.B.A.N.A. is to provide a musical outlet for all Shrine Bands in North America, with the exception of Oriental Bands, Pipe Bands and Drum Corps, the opportunity to assemble at a designated S.B.A.N.A. headquarters hotel to meet as brothers in fellowship through music. At these sessions S.B.A.N.A. provides a hotel site to showcase the talents of a Shrine Center Band in a musical competition called a “Festival of Music”.

The program for the “Festival of Music”, include competitions in Concert Band, German Bands, Polka Bands, Dance Bands, Show Bands and small Ensembles: consisting of three to seven performers. In addition Parade Bands, in the Imperial Session day parade, may also enter for an adjudication of their performance.

“Festival of Music” competitions are judged and plaques are awarded to entrants at the Annual Awards Banquet.

The all-inclusive Massed Band is available to all members.  The massed band performs twice once at the SBANA headquarters hotel as a “Family Band”. Another Massed band comprised of Shrine Members is held in the downtown areas of the particular city in which the session is held.

An Awards Banquet is one of two ticket events. A Ladies Breakfast is the other.  The Ladies Breakfast is normally held on the first day of the Imperial Session.

A Hospitality room is provided by S.B.A.N.A so its members may meet, greet, jam and “Keep Music Alive in Shrinedom.”

Additional events may be available depending on the city in which the Imperial Session is held.
